The Game Boy is the first handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. The Game Boy was released in 1989 in Japan and North America, and in 1990 in Europe. The Game Boy was the first successful handheld console, and was the predecessor of all other iterations of the Game Boy line. The Game Boy’s original release was in black and white, It wasn’t until 1998 that Nintendo would release the Game Boy color.
