Today, when you hear or think about SNES emulators, the debate is, which is better? ZSNES or SNES9x? In the early days of emulation (1996, 1997), the SNES emulator people were talking about was VSMC. “The_Brain” as he was known on IRC would come on IRC and announce new features, releases etc. This was a DOS based SNES emulator which everyone at the time was very excited about. Problem is, The_Brain got greedy and required people to pay for the emulator, and crippled the unregistered version. One of the crippling features was to make the screen appear all yellow/greenish in the game. Soon it became known as the “piss” emulator, and was eventually surpassed by basically any SNES emulator ever written, especially the two giants SNES9x and ZSNES. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, also known as Super Nintendo, Super NES or SNES, is a 16-bit video game console released by Nintendo in Japan in 1990, North America in 1991, and Europe in 1992. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System was Nintendo’s second home console, following the Nintendo Entertainment System. Despite its relatively late start, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System became the best selling console of the 16-bit era.
