Dark AleX has released the latest custom firmware for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) with custom firmware 3.90 M33. This new build fixes a bug connected to the March33 NO UMD. Dark_alex also noted the changes in the auto-updater function that was included in the previous version of custom firmware 3.80. He’s noted instability with the latest version of the updater. If this happens to you, Dark AleX mentions that you should restart the installer and try again. Dark AleX also updated his site with the release of the 1.50 kernel addon for the PlayStation Portable (Fat). The 1.50 kernel addon allows you to launch PSP homebrew which have not been updated to run on the latest/current firmware.

A new public beta of WinUAE public beta 9 which is the best Amiga emulator available for Windows. Assuming this WinUAE beta doesn’t have anything wrong with it, the WinUAE release candidate will be available soon. Basically this is a WinUAE 1.4.5 fix version + something “small” that didn’t get included in WinUAE 1.4.5.. WinUAE 1.4.6 will be probably released soon after winuae.net works again. Be aware that Winuae 1.4.6 will be the last Windows 98/ME compatible version. Following version (1.5.0?) will require Windows 2000 or newer. This update has these changes:

AAE is a primarily vector based arcade system emulator/simulator written using C and OpenGL. It strives to recreate the experience of playing the games as they were in the arcade, and requires the original game ROMS in order to run. In some cases copies of the original sound files and artwork are required to complete the emulation experience. It provides for simulation options that are not available in MAME ™, and offers several features that are not available in MAME ™ due to their arcade preservation charter, such as advanced hardware based drawing and motion blur. AAE is a work in progress emulator, and no games are guaranteed to run correctly or even at all. Some games run (in my opinion) quite well, and provide an excellent representation of the arcade experience.
Accorin to MC, reports have surfaced that two hackers have been able to alter a save game from Zelda to crash the Wii machine and run their own custom code on it. The beauty of this hack is that there is no need to hard-mod your Wii in order to run the exploit and all you need to do is copy over over a Zelda file, load it and the code should run. However, the hack is very much in its infancy and the team has only so far managed to run 4 lines of code after a day’s work.
A MAME developer, Phil Bennett posted info on his workings in MAME, this for the game Lock-On from 1986.
