Dreamcast Homebrew WIP: Crystals Of Xaz (pronounced "Zaz")
Crystals of Xaz is a Fenix for Dreamcast game that I’ve been developing for about a month now. The goal is to fly to various planets, and capture crystals to fuel your home planet while avoiding falling enemies and other dangers. There are powerups and other bonuses that are available to help you on your quest. The game is about 40% done at this stage. Here is an early screenshot with placeholder graphics:
Once the game is finished, I’ll be releasing it as freeware for the Dreamcast (as a selfbootable disc image) and the source code so that others may learn from my experiences.
For those who don’t know about Fenix, it’s a scripting language developed specifically for games, that runs a bytecode file in a “sandbox” similar to how Java works. Fenix has been ported to the Gamepark handhelds, Dreamcast, PC, Mac, Linux, and other platforms.
