Both Roberto Fresca and Ville Linde posted info on their development for MAME:

Cuore 1 colors…
I recreated the Cuore 1 colors thanks to some screenshots that mame italia guys kindly sent some time ago. It seems to be a 5th color in the Joker, that means GFX are at least 3bpp instead of two. I need to verify more closely. For now is close to the original game.
