SSF Ver0.07 beta R10

SSF is a Sega Saturn emulator for Windows with these changes (translated from Japanese):

SCSP playback position processing was updated.
Access processing of the memory was updated.

Snapshot key was changed to F8.
Saturn.ini and SSF.ini are now merged [b](SSF.ini saved the emu settings, Saturn.ini saved the clock/language settings in the past – you’ll probably need to delete your ini files and re-configurate the emu).
Save States are temporary mounted.
State Load = F7 key
State Save = Shift + F7 key

Since data is compressed, saving takes time.

The savestate function has restrictions. (I heavily abbreviated this part, I think you’ll get the idea)
- Only one save can be made per game (multiple saves are planned for future versions)
- You can only save once the game has started up (There’s something written about “Being unable to save on multiplayer screens” here which I didn’t understand)
- Saturn’s built-in backup and the contents of the backup RAM cartridge are not saved. (For STV games however, the backup memory is also saved)
- If the BIOS changes, a savestate cannot be loaded.
- In later versions, it may become impossible to load a previous savestate. (Since support is experimental, the savestate data may change in the future, braking compatibility for existing saves)

Ootake V0.69

Ootake is a TG16/PC Engine emulator for Windows with these changes (translated from Japanese):

- The bug related to interrupt processing (It is generated by v0.68. In some games, the screen was not displayed and stopped.) was corrected.
- When starting, it is started by “screen stretch setting” that had been used last time.
- (The mistake existed in the description of “Readme.txt” last time (v0.68).
Third line from the bottom
x”Rastan Saga II” -> o”Ankoku Densetsu (The Legendary Axe 2)”)

PCSX2 News!

Just spoke to CKEmu on IRC and he sent me this impressive video of Final Fantasy X running on PCSX2!:

On post made on 16th August, Refraction hinted at progress being made with the audio side of PCSX2, as many of you will of guessed – the clip posted was from Final Fantasy X, more importantly from an FMV, which in all previous versions of PCSX2 had no audio (99% of the time). To elaborate on this further, GiGaHeRz and Saqib have fixed large portions of ADMA support, allowing for all videos to have audio and many games now have full background music!
Alittle work has been done by saqib today which allows for audio and video sync when recording, so I can demonstrate with a small xvid encoded video the results of their hardwork.

Logiqx MAME 0.109 dat files

Logiqx has updated his DAT files for the latest MAME release for both ROM utilies ClrMAME Pro and RomCenter. Additionally, RomCenter had a site update with the status on the 3.0 release:

I would like to give some news about romcenter 3 as I’m spending quite some times on it actually.
So, I built (again Razz) a new repair engine. It will allow more flexibility like managing samples and chd (not yet done). It loads also very quickly at startup: 5 sec for a mame set with 3 folders and more than 3000 files. yeah !!
It can actually load mame xml datafiles.
It is working quite well now for normal roms. I fixed more than 3000 files without problems (took 24 min, I don’t know how cl*m*me perform… anyone ?)
But It still needs a lot of work. I still have to add corrupted files support, to hook progress windows and other gui items, add items level fix in view, add samples and chd support etc…
But things are coming nicely. I just finished removing all memory leaks.

I will do my best to post more wip reports, and as soon as I got something usable, I will publish an alpha for a test in the wild.

DOSBox 0.65 CVS (09/29/2006)

NESCafe 0.705

I just discovered this cool Java based NES emulator called NESCafe. Apparantly its been out for quite some time (you can see how much i’ve missed lately). With all the games i’ve been adding to this site, I am planning on adding this as well so that you can play NES games on our site as well. Anyway, check out the author’s site. It looks damn impressive for being java based!

Aaron Giles update

Aaron Giles updated his own personal site with info for those of you who need help using the new MAME rendering system.

WinArcadia 2.0: 26 September 2006

This emulates the Emerson Arcadia 2001 family of consoles (Bandai, Emerson, Grandstand, Hanimex, Intervision, Leisure-Vision, Leonardo, MPT-03, Ormatu, Palladium, Poppy, Robdajet, Rowtron, Tele-Fever, Tempest, Tryom, Tunix, etc.).WinArcadia has been recommended by NonMESS as the best Emerson Arcadia 2001 emulator available: “WinArcadia is the clear winner. For one, the Arcadia 2001’s sound is much more clearly reproduced and is actually in tune with this emulator, compared to its competition. Second, WinArcadia gets credit for its use of the standard windowing GUI, which aside from other benefits allows for drag-and-drop support. WinArcadia is far more advanced than the MESS driver, with near-perfect emulation and tons of support for extras like save-state and graphics scaling. Definitely worth a look.” Download at our Emerson Arcade emulation page.

Virtual Jaguar news

Virutal Jaguar is an Atari Jaguar (obviously) emulator for Windows. The author updated his site with some news:

2006-09-22 Things are quiet—a little too quiet… At any rate, development of Virtual Jaguar has only slowed down to a glacial pace, not stopped. Yes, we’re still here, and if we were going away we would let you know in no uncertain terms. The next release will be 1.1.0, since it’s a major rewrite of the blitter (and hopefully the last, since it’ll be correct this time!). No ETA as of yet, because Shamus is going through some major life changes at the moment (as if having a baby isn’t major enough!). We’re also hoping that Ryan will switch the project over to subversion soon (Mmm, subversion…). Stay tuned…
